20 Dec 2009 First Date?

Jono and I took John-John and his friend McKenzie (or should I say “true love” as he says) to see the Nutcracker yesterday in San Jose. It was such a fun and enjoyable day. We picked up McKenzie and headed up to San Jose, parked in the parking garage and crossed a cute little bridge over the creek. Of course the kids had to get up on the railing and check it out!!

Luckily the theater was just on the other side of the bridge so we finished gawking at the non-existent fish, went to the theater and quickly found our seats (which were excellent – thank you Auntie Carol)!

The kids really enjoyed the first half of the play, but I think they were most interested in getting to the souvenir shopping.

After the second half of the play, we walked across the street to check out Christmas in the Park. Luckily it was still early and not very crowded (which was nice). The kids enjoyed the festive displays and Jono and I had fun watching the two of them together, they looked like a little miniature couple – so cute :)

After our walk around the park, we headed to Johnny Rockets for dinner then home. A fun day, not one John-John is soon to forget!

11 Aug 2009 Sunday Monday Happy Days….

While Kaileigh and I were enjoying our girl bonding time together, Jono and Alanna spent last weekend in Reno at Hot August Nights. They both had a great weekend and came home exhausted. Alanna and her friend Kimmy rode in the prade with Pat and Tina on Sunday – how fun is that! And all of them got to meet the Fonz, Ralph Malph, and Potsie from the sitcom Happy Days!

Last year they got to meet Cindy Williams from Laverne & Shirley. I think I’m gonna tag along next year with the hope that David Cassidy might be there!

08 Jul 2009 Photoshop Class

I’ve been taking an online Photoshop Special Effects class. Everyday there is a new lesson and project associated. Here’s the first one I did the other day:

Manresa Beach

This class involved the use of brushes and frames. I love this shot of Kaileigh and John and Manresa Beach.

All three kids are out of school as of this afternoon.  John-John had his last day today and is now officially a first-grader. Alanna and Kaileigh have been on summer vacation for a week now and have already been to the beach and Great America. It is hard to imagine that Alanna is going to be a Senior and Kaileigh a Sophmore. Where has the time gone?! I am sure we will keep asking ourselves this very same question for years to come. It continues to amaze me how fast the time flies.

Me: John-John, what do you want for breakfast?

JJ: I want a surprize breakfast.

Me: Ok, how about dog poop and a side of sponge bob.

JJ: Mom, you’re not supposed to tell me what it is, and that’s not appropriate for kids.

That’s when I thought to myself, enough of this public education stuff for you!

Ok, so I said I wasn’t going to make a resolution for this year. And technically I didn’t make it until yesterday, so maybe it doesn’t count as one. But, I have “resolved” to learn how to use the features and my camera more effectively this year. So hopefully I won’t miss out on great shots like this one:

Unfortunately, this was the best I could do and John-John is still fuzzy. If I had learned how to use my camera last year, this picture would have been better! Hopefully I’ll be able to capture shots more quickly once I figure out what all the settings are!
